Alex Kontos and Gabe Earl hold a book they wrote to tell first-graders about how plants stabilize a creek bank. They and other members of Laura Brown’s class at Cleveland Elementary School are participating in a Disney Environmental Challenge project. The class is creating a native plant walking trail that informs the public of the role native plants play in keeping small, local creeks clean and how important this is for the Chattahoochee/Flint River basins. They’ve planted some native plants behind the school and will hold a “Plant Fair” Feb. 15 at the school. Photo/Special.
