Peachtree City police and a local business are hoping the offer of a $5,000 reward will help shake loose information to solve the ram-and-grab burglary of the PeachMac computer store at The Avenue shopping center Jan. 26.

The reward is offered for “information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible” for the burglary, according to a police department news release.

Police also have released still photos taken from a surveillance camera which depict three young black men who “have been identified as persons of interest in this case,” police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call detectives at 770-631-2510 or the city’s crime and narcotics information hotline at 770-487-6010.

Although a police officer was able to pursue one of the two vehicles that left the store immediately following the burglary, the pursuit was terminated along the northern portion of Peachtree Parkway as the suspect was driving recklessly, police said.

A sheriff’s deputy encountered the second vehicle that had left the scene of the burglary and began a separate pursuit that led through Fayetteville and northward before heading toward the interstate along Ga. Highway 138. That pursuit was canceled due to the wet roads and the high speeds, officials said.

The burglars got away with more than $20,000 of computer equipment and peripherals, police said. They broke into the store by ramming one of the vehicles through the front door, police said.

The incident happened after 2 a.m. Jan. 26.
