Calvin Lewis Ellis Allman, 86, of Peachtree City died Friday, January 7, 2011.

He was preceded in death by parents Murray and Pearl Allman, sisters Faye Allman Morris and Dorothy Allman Lowman, his first wife Rhoda Shaw Allman and his second wife Patricia Alexander Allman.

He is survived by sons David ( Constance ) and Gary (Barbara), grandson Daniel (Amy), sister Emma Allman Rice, nieces, nephews, and beloved in-laws of 60 years.

Born in Stocksville near Asheville NC , Calvin served in the Pacific in World War II. He then entered civil service attached to the 3rd U.S. Army, from which he retired in 1980. Calvin and Rhoda moved to Peachtree City in 1972. He continued to work with the Boy Scouts in many capacities, was a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he served as a local club president and on the state Board of Governors. He and his wife Rhoda attended Park Street Methodist Church in Atlanta for many years, and they were charter members of 1st Baptist Church in Peachtree City, where Calvin also served as a deacon. Calvin and Rhoda were members of the Friendship Force. Calvin was active in other civic affairs, including the Peachtree City Library and the Lion’s Club Recycle for Sight program.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 9th, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. Interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 Sunday afternoon at Mowell Funeral Home, 200 Robinson Road in Peachtree City. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 1800 Circle 75 Parkway, Atlanta , Ga. 30339.
