Council Workshop on Transportation Plan – Tuesday, November 30
The Mayor and Council will hold a workshop on Tuesday, November 30, 5:00 p.m., at City Hall to discuss the revised draft County Transportation Plan and finalize wording for a resolution for adoption at the December 2 meeting. The public is welcome.
County Commission Meeting on Wednesday, December 1 – Council Quorum Possible
On Wednesday, December 1, City officials, including a possible quorum of Council Members, will make a formal presentation to the Fayette County Board of Commissioners to request funding for the Gateway Bridge on Highway 54 and improvements to the Crosstown Drive/Peachtree Parkway intersection. The presentation will take place during the Commissioners’ workshop, which begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room in the Fayette County Administrative Complex, 140 Stonewall Avenue West in Fayetteville. The public is welcome.
City Council Meeting – Thursday, December 2
The regular City Council meeting will be held on Thursday, December 2, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall. The agenda includes an amendment to the Traffic Ordinance to ban future registration of gas golf carts and the employment agreement for the new Economic Development Coordinator. The public is welcome. Golf Carts Everywhere in PTC? Not quite . . .
Just a quick reminder to our 10,500 registered cart owners that golf carts are allowed almost everywhere, but there are a few exceptions. Golf carts cannot be operated on Highway 54 or Highway 74, Peachtree Parkway, or Crosstown Road. Golf carts can only cross these roads at the designated tunnels, bridges, or (on Peachtree Parkway) marked crossings. The only place golf carts may cross Highway 54 is at the Steinmart traffic signal at Peachtree East Shopping Center (which is in Fayette County). Carts are not permitted on sidewalks along Highway 74 South or to cross in the pedestrian crosswalks on Highways 54 or 74. If a path exists along a roadway, the cart must be on the path instead of a street (Hip Pocket, Braelinn Road, Robinson Road, Stevens Entry, Wisdom Road, etc.).
Dog Park Free Admission Month – Now through New Year’s Day
The Peachtree City Dog Park Association is holding a special winter holiday open-gate period to allow local families, as well as visiting relatives, and their dogs to enjoy Peachtree City’s most pet-friendly amenity free of charge. The park is open every day from dawn to dusk and is located at 191 McIntosh Trail, past the Amphitheater and behind the BMX track. The Peachtree City Dog Park Association is a non-profit corporation contracting with the City to operate and maintain the Dog Park. For more information, go to www.ptcdogpark.com .
School District Survey:
Students, parents, and teachers of the Fayette County School System are invited to share their opinions in the Speak Up District Survey 2010, available online at through the Board of Education’s web site at http://www.fcboe.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=388 . The survey will be available through December 17.

Annual Trivia Challenge – PTC Youth Council versus PTC Police – Tuesday, November 30, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall. This marks the fourth time that these two groups have come together for a fun filled evening of trivia on law, the Police Department, and pop culture. At stake are yearly bragging rights and a trophy. During the past three years, the Police Department has been unable to hold onto the lead and win; however, they are certain that 2010 is their year to bring the trophy home. The public is invited to cheer on their favorite group.
Light Up the Night Toy Drive – Thursday, December 2 @ Target. The PTC Police Department will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for local families in need at the PTC Target from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
