DAPC Special Called Meeting – Tuesday, November 23
The Development Authority of Peachtree City will hold a special called meeting at City Hallon Tuesday, November 23. The purpose of the meeting is to convene in executive session to discuss the acquisition of real estate (note: Executive Sessions are not open to the public).
Outdoor Burning Notice – Lake McIntosh
Beginning this week, Fayette County’s contractor building Lake McIntosh, on Peachtree City’s southwestern border, will begin burning the cleared material associated with the construction project. Residents accustomed to calling the Peachtree City Fire Department with outdoor burning complaints will need to contact the Fayette County Board of Commissioners’ Office if air quality becomes a problem due to the burning. Construction burning is legal in Coweta County, where the actual burning will take place, and this is a Fayette County project. The phone number for the Board of Commissioners’ office is 770-305-5200.
Wildlife Reminder – Use caution, but agencies cannot capture or relocate
The City would like to remind everyone that our natural areas host a variety of wildlife, including deer, coyotes, raccoons, opossums, foxes, and armadillos. During the fall season, many animals are in rut and are much more likely to be visible. While negative interactions with our local wildlife are rare, please take precautions, including keeping small children and pets away, even if the animal is in your yard.
These animals live throughout our City and will be spotted occasionally along the paths and in yards. The County Animal Control Department and the PTC Police cannot respond to every wildlife sighting or if an animal is just walking in the area. Wild animals cannot be captured and relocated by the Police Department or Animal Control. Contact Fayette County Animal Control (770-631-7210) only to capture and destroy obviously diseased animals, and contact the Police Department only if an animal is attacking or visibly diseased and must be shot. If a wild animal is frequenting your home or yard, please make sure to remove possible food sources and, if necessary, contact a private pest control company to assist.
Recreation Catalog Now Online
The quarterly Peachtree City Parks & Recreation program catalog has graduated to an exclusively on-line version with the new Winter 2010-2011 edition. Winter Swim Passes on sale December 1
Swim passes go on sale December 1 at Kedron Fieldhouse for Winter Quarter (December – February). Passes cost $60 for a single pass, $110 for two people, $150 for three, or $180 for four.
Library scooters available
Thanks to generous donations, the PTC Library now has two mobility scooters available to assist patrons who have difficulty getting around the large building. Please visit the circulation desk to use a scooter during your PTC Library visit.
Peachtree City Holiday Ornament
Looking for that perfect little hostess gift or memento that really says “Peachtree City?” The new Peachtree City Holiday Ornament, featuring a golf cart and the official City logo, is now available at City Hall and the Visitors Center on McIntosh Trail. New Street & Path Maps available
The new 4-color Guide to PTC Street & Path “Map-azine” are now available at City Hall for $2.00. The maps show both the public path system and the private golf course paths, which are delineated in different colors. Residents are reminded that the golf course paths are private property and only for use by club members while golfing.
Traffic Alerts
Harbor Loop – Paving should be completed this week.
Round Leaf – This project has been moved to the week of November 29 – stormwater crews will be replacing a pipe under Round Leaf (in Spooner Ridge). The road will be closed for one day to complete the project.
Windgate Path Tunnel – This project has been moved to the week of November 29 – the tunnel will be closed for approximately two days for Stormwater repairs.

Light Up the Night Toy Drive – Friday & Saturday, November 26 & 27@ Wal-Mart. The PTC Police Department will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for local families in need at the PTC Wal-Mart from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Planning Commission Meeting – Monday, November 29, 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
Annual Trivia Challenge – PTC Youth Council versus PTC Police – Tuesday, November 30, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall. This marks the fourth time that these two groups have come together for a fun filled evening of trivia on law, the Police Department, and pop culture. At stake are yearly bragging rights and a trophy. During the past three years, the Police Department has been unable to hold onto the lead and win; however, they are certain that 2010 is their year to bring the trophy home. The public is invited to cheer on their favorite group.
