Healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente has submitted initial plans to open a medical micro-clinic in Fayetteville. Preliminary information supplied by the city’s Planning and Zoning department indicates that the company intends to occupy the 6,420-square-foot building along Ga. Highway 85 at 101 Banks Station. That’s the old Blockbuster building.
Kaiser Permanente has submitted initial revised development plans but has yet to make a formal submission of those plans, according to city senior planner Linwood Robinson in a Nov. 9 memo.
Tentative plans call for interior demolition and renovation of the former video rental business. Other plans call for the revitalization and rehabilitation of the building’s exterior, Robinson said.
The company’s website indicates that the clinic is expected to open in early 2011. Services to be provided include adult medicine, gynecology, pediatrics and adolescent medicine, pharmacy, X-ray and limited laboratory services.
The building is one of two outparcel buildings situated along Hwy. 85 just south of the Chick-fil-A restaurant.
The exterior work project scope would include: constructing a new covered entry portico; constructing new walkways along the west and south sides of the existing building; remodeling and painting the existing EFIS exterior facade and aluminum/glass storefront; installing new fabric awnings over the existing window areas; providing a new asphalt coating and re-striping for the parking lot; constructing a new handicap ramp along the front of the building; constructing a new dumpster enclosure on the site; adding a new roof access ladder to the building and; adding new landscaping to supplement the existing plantings at the site.
Further documentation for the project is expected prior to the planning commission’s Dec. 7 meeting.
