Take a trip around the world at Drake Field on Sept. 25 where you will experience culture, art, dance and storytelling representative of countries far and near, all while the annual Dragon Boat Races take place on Lake Peachtree. The 4th annual International Festival, which is sponsored by the Peachtree City CVB, has an exciting and expanded entertainment program this year. Featured programs include two Safari Adventure Stage Shows, a Celtic Band, Aztec Dancer of Mexico, Irish and Okinawan dancers and drummers, and Mama Koku who will present a storytelling program with a series of tales from Africa to Europe, to Asia and beyond.

The headliner for the day, Safari Adventures, is presented by Wildlife Wonders. Get ready as the safari guides, fully outfitted, take the audience on an adventure of a lifetime. As they search for the BIG ONE, who knows what they might encounter. Join them as they learn about wild animals such as the leaping lemur, wildcats, monitor lizards and more in this comical yet dramatic show. The adventure continues as the safari music plays. The fun and suspense builds as they get closer to finding the crocodile and continue to encounter all kinds of wild animals.

This show is interactive, fun, educational and the presenters are skilled at animal handling and presenting. This makes for a show like no other. The crowd will meet an incredible diverse group of fascinating, unique, impressive and amazing animals at the shows, which are scheduled for noon and 4 p.. on the main stage at the festival.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday with opening ceremonies for the Dragon Boat Races beginning at 9 a.m. Beginning at 10 a.m., the stage will come alive with music and entertainment and will continue non-stop until close of show.

Also added this year are more activities for children. Festival attendees will be greeted by a huge 50 ft. dragon and panda bear inflatable bouncer in the kids corner. Once inside the festival the large International Tent will host a schedule of educational shows, and artistic and international demonstrations and crafts. Balloon animals will also be available for all to enjoy.

The festival also boasts an international flavor as restaurants and food vendors will be representing numerous cultures and cuisines. Italian, Greek, American, and Chinese are just a few of the flavors you can sample that day at Drake Field. Altogether, 14 restaurants will be selling their fare from around the world.

The Rotary Dragon Boat Races will run simultaneously to the festival on Lake Peachtree. This year marks the 4th annual Dragon Boat Races sponsored by Rotary and the race will host over 30 teams.

Dragon boat racing is the world’s fastest growing water sport. It combines tradition with modern day teamwork, enthusiasm, and strategy.  Looking for leadership and team building activities that focus on unique athletics and diversity?
