The Peachtree City Civic Association is sponsoring a neighborhood seminar to help residents organize their neighborhood for advocacy and to help protect the city’s quality of life.

Members of the community are invited to attend the free “Empower Your Neighborhood” seminar on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at City Hall.

Among the topics will be issues faced by homeowners associations and neighborhoods, and a representative of the Atlanta law firm Weissman, Nowack, Curry and Wilco will be on hand to discuss many such issues including the need to update covenants, dues collection, the need for adequate insurance and others.

A city representative will also be on hand to discuss crime and code enforcement issues, community planning and ways to enhance communication between the city and its residents.

The association will also have an information table with literature on different maintenance and organizational vendors that service neighborhoods.

The civic association has served as a collective voice for a number of Peachtree City neighborhoods on important decisions faced by the City Council, planning commission and also the Fayette County Board of Education.

To sign up for the event, visit www.ptcca.org/2010_ptc_neighborhood_seminar.html and fill out the electronic form at the bottom. For more information, email info@ptcca.org.
