Peachtree City’s former visitors center, located at the city’s tennis center, is now a part of the tennis center operations again.

The city council last week officially signed over control of the building to Canongate, the private company that is managing the tennis center on behalf of the city.

The old visitor’s center was vacated several months ago as it was relocated to the city’s amphitheater box office building so employees could share duties between the visitors center and the amphitheater.

Canongate will use the former visitors center location at the tennis center as an entry and registration area for tournaments and also for other special events hosted at the tennis center.

Although the tennis center is operated by Canongate, membership is open to all and court time can also be used by non-members, though they can only reserve court time on the day of play.

Members can reserve court time up to seven days in advance and they also receive reduced rates for court fees, tennis lessons and more.

The tennis center offers indoor and outdoor courts including clay and hard surfaces. The center also offers a variety of clinics, camps and lessons from pro instructors for players of all skill levels.

The center also includes a restaurant open daily for lunch or a quick snack.

The tennis center will be hosting the USTA Georgia Kia Motors Tournament of Champions Oct. 15-17 that is expected to be the largest men’s and women’s adult tournament in the state this year.

The tennis center is owned by the city and is located off Ga. Highway 54 at Planterra Way.
