Early voting for the primary runoff election Aug. 10 started today in three locations in Fayette County.

Voters may cast early ballots between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. today through Friday at:
• The county elections office at 140 Stonewall Avenue West, Suite 208;
• The Peachtree City Library at 201 Willowbend Road next to City Hall; or
• The Tyrone Library at 143 Commerce Drive.

There will be no early voting on Monday as officials prepare for the runoff election Tuesday, Aug. 10 in which voters must go to their regular polling place to cast a vote.

All of the races contested in the runoff election are statewide posts.

On the Democratic side only one race is on the ballot, between Gail Buckner and Georganna Sinkfield for the party’s nomination for secretary of state.

There are several choices to make on the Republican side. Republican voters will choose between governor candidates Nathan Deal and Karen Handel; attorney general candidates Sam Olens and Preston Smith; insurance commissioner candidates Ralph Hudgens and Maria Sheffield; and public service commissioner candidates John Douglas and Tim Echols.
