The Fayetteville Planning & Zoning Commission last week agreed to recommend that revised elevation plans for the Olde Courthouse Tavern at 105 South Glynn Street be approved. The new business on the courthouse square could open in October.

Property owner Larry Graves said Tuesday the 2,000-square-foot Olde Courthouse Tavern will be outfitted like an old English tavern, complete with exposed beams and exposed brick. The business will feature a diverse menu that caters to an atmosphere of upscale, casual dining and will come with a full bar.

Senior Planner Linwood Robinson said the plan request included exterior renovations that would consist of rebuilding the front facade and portions of the rear facade of the structure to restore the original look based on historic photographs of the property.

The site is part of the downtown square and subject to the architectural and preservation guidelines of the Main Street District, Robinson said.

Graves said he hopes to have the building ready for an early October opening.
