Coweta Commission proclaims “Day of Prayer”

It may not be very popular in some places across America, but in Coweta the idea of proclaiming May 6 as a “Day of Prayer” was approved in short order May 4 by the Coweta County Commission.

Requested by a local resident and mirroring the National Day of Prayer, commissioners adopted the proclamation that invited “Citizens to gather together to pray in their own way for unity of the hearts of mankind, and the return of strong moral character in the lives of the people of all nations, and peace and understanding throughout the world.”

The United States, as a culture, is no stranger to the anti-Christian sentiment that has been evolving for decades. As individuals and groups, Christians have for years have been belittled for their faith, whether in the news and entertainment media or through political actions and judicial proceedings that moved to ban items such as crosses or plaques inscribed with the Ten Commandments.

The vote by the commission was unanimous.
