The political season is about to heat up, but you cannot tell it by the small number of people qualifying for the expiring terms of two Coweta County Commission seats.

As of press time Thursday, District 2 Commissioner Tim Lassetter will face no opposition in the bid to retain his west Coweta seat.

Next door in District 3, Commissioner Randolph Collins announced that he will not be running for re-election. Palmetto resident David Stover did qualify earlier this week on the Republican ticket for the northeast Coweta commission seat.

As for statewide races, there is no competition for seats held by Rep. Lynn Smith, Rep. Billy Horne or Sen. Mitch Seabaugh.

And at the Congressional level, Rep. Lynn Westmoreland will face Democratic challenger Frank Saunders of Midland.
