Rev. Dr. Chester R. Cook, executive director of the Interfaith Airport Chaplaincy, Inc. at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport gave a detailed talk at a recent Rotary luncheon about the functions and responsibilities of the chaplains that work with the Interfaith Airport Chaplaincy group. Reverend, Dr. Cook shared interesting and heart-felt stories of how he and other Chaplains have helped passengers in needy situations as they spent time in the Atlanta airport. Dr. Cook was born in Frankfurt, Germany. His family moved to Atlanta when he was 12 years old. He attended Morrow High School and joined the Air Force after graduation serving as a surgeon’s assistant for four years. Shortly after receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Georgia State University he married his wife Susan. After working ten years with Coast Inc. he answered his call to ministry and gained a Masters of Divinity from Emory/Candler School of Theology. In 1996, Rev. Cook was ordained into the United Methodist Church and went on to receive his Doctor of Ministry from the Interdenominational Theological Center in 2002. Rev. Dr. Cook has served as a Chaplain at Georgia Baptist Nursing Home, Georgia Baptist Medical Center, Emory Clinical Pastoral Services, Emory Hospital, Children’s Health Care of Atlanta, Crawford Long Hospital, Wesley Woods, and Allied Systems Inc.
