The musical “Cabaret” by Joe Masteroff takes places in Germany in the 1930s. The audience is invited, by the emcee, to escape to the Kit Kat Klub and leave all their troubles behind. Newnan Community Theatre Company (NCTC) will present the show in May.

Auditions for the musical will be held on March 8 and 9 at the theatre, beginning at 7 pm. There are roles for children (ages 8 and up), teens, and adults. Those auditioning may attend either evening. Anyone who is auditioning for a singing role should prepare 32 measures of two contrasting songs that are not from “Cabaret.” Bring sheet music in your key, an accompianst will be provided. Please wear comfortable shows to move in as many characters dance. There will also be cold readings from the script. No experience is necessary to audition.

Main roles are as follows:

Emcee: Male, 20s to 40s. Strong singer and dancer.

Cliff Bradshaw: Male in his 20s. Sings one song.

Herr Schultz: Male in his 50s. Sings but doesn’t dance.

Fraulein Schneider: Female in her 40s. Sings but doesn’t dance.
