Law history class offered for HS students

High school students are being invited to apply for a free 11-week Saturday symposium on American Constitutional law and legal history taught by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Chris Edwards.

Each class will focus on a particular topic of Constitutional history. Students will be responsible for purchasing a $10 book for the class entitled “The Supremes’ Greatest Hits: The 34 Supreme Court Cases That Most Directly Affect Your Life” by Michael Trachtman.

Students considering a law career and those taking AP History are especially encouraged to apply for the class. The deadline to apply for the class is Friday, Jan. 15 and must be mailed to Judge Edwards at One Center Drive, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.

The class is limited to students who have at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and students must attach a copy of their report card to the application.

The class will meet Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon starting Jan. 23 but will not meet over winter break or spring break.

Students who took the inaugural class last year reported that they not only enjoyed the class but also enjoyed getting to know like minded students who have an interest in the law.
