Senoia water tower to become restaurant, bar with a view

Ever since Scott Tigchelaar was a kid he wanted a water tower. That dream came true recently when his company purchased the old water tower in downtown Senoia that was put out for bid by the Senoia City Council last year as surplus property. As for the 110-foot water tower, look for it to be transformed in the future into a restaurant on ground level with a bar in the tower’s bowl that will provide a scenic view of the surrounding area. Waterfall welcomed as gateway to Fayetteville

The man who made an advertising icon out of cows urging everyone to “eat mor chikin” has now built a waterfall beside a major Fayette highway. And as of March 14, Fayette’s new Waterfall has officially started flowing.

Fayette County Realtors rally at the Capitol to support home ownership

Thirty-five Realtors from Fayette County along with several members from the Midwest Georgia Home Builders Association were among hundreds who participated in the Georgia Realtors (GAR) Rally for Homeownership on the front steps of the Georgia Capitol building in January.

Plant expansion to bring 120 jobs to PTC

A 180,000 square foot addition to a Peachtree City industry was approved by the Planning Commission Monday night.

Beyond that big addition, the project is anticipated to make way for 120 or more new jobs at Gerresheimer, located off Ga. Highway 74 South in the city’s industrial park. Read More»

Jobless rate rises in Coweta, Fayette

What had been an improving picture for unemployment in Coweta and Fayette counties during much of 2012 took a turn for the worse in January as the jobless rate in Coweta jumped a full percentage point while edging up one-third of a point in Fayette. Read More»

PTC-filmed ‘Drop Dead Diva’ comes back to life

The Lifetime television network has renewed the Peachtree City-filmed “Drop Dead Diva” for a fifth season.

The show was rescued after Lifetime first indicated last month that it would not be renewing the show.

Preproduction is slated to begin around spring break and shooting is expected to begin in early April, according to Matt Forshee of the Fayette County Development Authority. Read More»

The Ga. International Convention Center was overflowing on Feb. 20 as representatives from the region made their way to College Park for the 2013 South Metro Development Outlook conference. Among the speakers from across south metro Atlanta were Fayette County Commission Chairman Steve Brown and Fayette County Development Authority CEO Matt Forshee.

Initial infusions into local economy over 5 years: $192 million; impact compared to Kia plant

There was a flurry of potential development discussion Feb. 22 at the Fayetteville City Council’s annual retreat.

Fayette County Development Authority CEO Matt Forshee made a brief presentation on the Pinewood Studios Group and the plans for the Project Stargate film and television studio facility planned for a 288-acre tract on Sandy Creek Road northwest of Fayetteville.

As for Pinewood’s entree into the United States by way of Fayette County, Forshee said the studio’s goal is to start with a small studio and grow it bigger than anything existing today in metro Atlanta. Read More»

The annual South Metro Development Outlook conference was held Feb. 20 at the Ga. International Convention Center in College Park. Serving on the panel addressing metro Atlanta and Georgia’s burgeoning film industry was Senoia Enterprises President Scott Tigchelaar, whose company received an award for Outstanding Commitment to Economic Development.

Rep. Ramsey backs better tax breaks for creating new jobs

To help spur economic growth statewide and in Fayette County, Rep. Matt Ramsey has introduced a bill to increase tax credits for new job creation while also reducing the minimum threshold to help benefit more businesses.

House Bill 186 would increase the credit from $750 to $2,000 for each new job created, add a $250 bonus credit for an existing company that is expanding and lower the job creation threshold from 25 jobs to 10 jobs for counties such as Fayette. Read More»
