Chamber announces 2015 award winners
Paramount Hospitality Management has been named the 2015 Small Business of the Year by the Newnan-Coweta Chamber. The award was presented Aug. 27 at The Newnan Centre in a program sponsored by SouthTowne Motors and UBS Financial Services.
The Small Business of the Year Award was one of several presented at the awards program and celebration honoring more than 125 Coweta businesses nominated for 2015 awards.
Candace Boothby, President and CEO of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber, thanked all those attending and praised the 10 finalists and four honorable mention winners, noting that to be a finalist among 125 nominees was quite an honor.
Along with Steve Mader of SouthTowne Motors and Ginger Jackson Queener of UBS Financial Services, the special guest presenter this year was U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland.
“I love entrepreneurs,” said Westmoreland, who owned his own building company, L.A.W. Builders, before going on to serve in the Georgia State House and the U.S. House of Representatives. “Small business creates about 80 percent of the jobs in this country.”
Awards were given in three categories based on number of employees. LifePlan Financial Advisors won in the Entrepreneur category, which was open to businesses with 1 to 5 employees. The winner in the Growth category, for businesses with 6 to 19 employees, was FutureStaff. Georgia Pain and Spine Care won in the Employer category, open to businesses with 20 to 99 employees.
Judging was based on eight criteria in three different categories: company growth, company profile and uniqueness, and Chamber and community involvement. The entries were evaluated by independent judges, none of whom were affiliated with The Chamber, SouthTowne Motors or UBS Financial Services.
The other finalists were Advanced Technology Logistics, Bubbles and Brushes Art Studio, Crezent Managed Marketing, Headley Construction, Prime Time Eventz and The Newnan Centre.
Honorable Mention award winners were 92.5 The Bear, Atlanta Range and Ordnance, Leaf and Bean Newnan, and Reese Services.
The event also included a Small Business Showcase featuring Chamber members’ products and services, a Portraits of Prosperity Panel spotlighting past Small Business of the Year award winners, and a reception honoring all the nominees and winners.
