Mr. Max Howard Medert of Fayetteville, one of ‘Merrill’s Marauders’ in WWII

Mr. Max Howard Medert of Fayetteville passed away on April 10, 2010 at the age of 86.

Max was a WWII Army veteran who proudly served as one of “Merrill’s Marauders” in China, Burma and India. Following his military career, he served on the city of Atlanta Police Force , retiring after 25 years of service.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sue C. Medert of Fayetteville; daughter Connie Patton (Tony) of Calhoun; sons Kenny Medert (Cathy) of Nashville, TN, Greg Medert (Sandra) of McDonough; four grandchildren, Kevin, Brandy, Ashley, and Matthew; and one brother Ken Medert of Loveland OH.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Jerry Cross will officiate. The burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, 760 Pollard Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA 30315.
