The Centre for Performing & Visual Arts in Newnan has announced several upcoming performances.

The schedule includes the following:

Tuesday, Feb. 3, 7 p.m.

To Kill a Mocking Bird

A sleepy, southern town confronts difference and
justice through the eyes of 6-year old Scout. In the heroics of her father, the struggles of her friends and neighbors, and the threat of a boogeyman, Scout lives through the joys of childhood innocence and the pains of growing up. Based on Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, National Players is proud to stage this tale for the first time in its 65-year history.

Sunday, Feb. 8, 3 p.m.

Marian Anderson String Quartet

In 1992, Marian Anderson gave the quartet permission to use her name as their own after they won the prestigious International Cleveland Quartet Competition becoming the first African-American ensemble in history to win a classical competition.

Tuesday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m.

California Guitar Trio

The California Guitar Trio’s fearless multi-genre explorations have intrigued audiences for over 20 years. Comprised of Bert Lams of Belgium, Hideyo Moriya of Japan, and Paul Richards of Utah, the group crisscrosses the universes of rock, jazz, world music, surf music, and classical music in its acoustic performances and recordings.

The Blind Boys of Alabama

Blind Boys of Alabama is a five-time Grammy Award winning gospel group from Alabama. They first sang together in 1944. Since then, the group’s output has spanned seven decades of tours, appearances, and records.The performing core of the group consists of eight musicians, including four blind singers. The gospel group has been a source of inspiration for those with disabilities. In the words of one of the group’s blind members, Ricky McKinnie, “our disability doesn’t have to be a handicap. It’s not about what you can’t do. It’s about what you do. And what we do is sing good gospel music.”

Charlotte’s Web

Theatreworks’ production of Charlotte’s Web is based on E.B. White’s loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. This treasured tale, featuring mad-cap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love, and the true meaning of friendship.
