A “potent system” blowing through Fayette and Coweta counties today is producing sustained winds of up to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, generating a caution for drivers from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City.

“Winds this strong can make driving difficult for high profile vehicles,” the NWS special weather statement said. “Unsecured outdoor items such as trash cans and lawn furniture may be blown around. With soils wet from the recent rainfall, these winds could down trees and large limbs.”

The wind advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. this evening.

The advisory covers all of north and central Georgia for winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
