John J. and Marie L. Steele of Peachtree City celebrated their 65th year of marriage on Aug. 3, 2009. The couple met while both were members of the Armed Forces during WWII. Mrs. Steele was a recruiter in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) and Mr. Steele was an x-ray technician in the Army Air Corps.

The Steeles were married in Miami Beach, Fla., 65 years ago, in a small ceremony with a few family and friends. They now have six married daughters and a family of 40, including spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
