Being named Georgia’s Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) has its perks: statewide recognition, a beautiful trophy and a brand new interactive SMART Board.

Multi Media Services presented Superintendent John DeCotis with a new SMART Board in recognition of him being named the state’s top educator for 2009 at the GAEL conference last month. The interactive board allows students to manipulate information on-screen with the touch of a finger, SMART pen or extension stick. It features colorful and captivating images, and the sensory system engages different learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

A permanent home for the SMART Board has yet to be determined but DeCotis says it will be placed where students can utilize it.
