The Rev. Scott Pickering (L), pastor of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone, consecrates the massive cross recently constructed by Newnan resident and church member Dayton Ivester (R). The 12-foot cross was hand hewn from a felled pine tree and stands in front of the church on Jenkins Road across from Sandy Creek High School. The cross was constructed so it can be moved and will remain in front of the church until Pentecost. Photo/Special.
