For all the rain currently being dumped by Tropical Storm Fay on large portions of south Georgia, Alabama and the Florida panhandle, Fayette and Coweta counties will likely see precious little of the much needed liquid. Some gusty winds are expected to prevail Saturday and Sunday along with a 40-50 percent chance of rain.

National Weather Service is forecasting an east wind around 20 miles per hour today and 10-15 miles per hour on Sunday. Gusts today could be as high as 30 miles per hour, diminishing to 25 miles per hour on Sunday.

And while any rain that might come this way over the weekend could be heavy at times, the likelihood of any significant precipitation for the drought stricken area is not expected.

Tropical Storm Fay is currently situated over the Florida panhandle moving WNW at 5 miles per hour and generating winds of 45 miles per hour. It is expected to hug the Gulf Coast through Monday, passing north of New Orleans and into Louisiana where forecasters believe it could take a turn north.
