Joseph Terry Shaner, 66,Newnan, died March 22, 2008. He was born Aug. 31, 1941 in Olean, N. Y. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph T. and Marguerite Hosmer Shaner. He was a four year veteran of the United States Air Force. He then had a career as a production scheduler for a manufacturer of stationery supplies. He had worked for Wal-Mart where he was affectionately known as "J. T.". He attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and had been involved in the work of the Masonic lodge in Circleville, Ohio.

A funeral mass was at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Dan Fleming and the Rev. Father Austin Fogarty officiating. Survivors include his wife, Susan Leahy Shaner; children, Brendan and Jenna Shaner, Devin and Christa Shaner, and Morgan Shaner; a grandchild, Colin Shaner; a sister, Pamela Adams; and a niece, Tracey and David Fincher, all of Tempe, Ariz. Memorial donations may be made to The Ruth Hill Elementary School Relay for Life Team of the American Cancer Society, Coweta Relay for Life.
