Falcon Field in Peachtree City will host the start of a 13-day competition May 19 that will feature 53 airplanes competing for $1 million in cash and prizes.
The Great Air Race will launch at 6 a.m. that Saturday, and pilots will touch down in all four corners of the United States. Specators are welcome to watch the launch, organizers said.
The event will be filmed for broadcast at a later date by Papillon Productions of Hollywood, Calif.
The day before the race, organizers will host a golf cart scavenger hunt for race participants. Local residents are needed to help guide the air crews along the cart path system during the scavenger hunt.
To volunteer, contact Betsy Tyler at City Hall at 770-487-7657.
The field of 53 aircraft includes representatives from each of the 50 states along with the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
