At the Q&A session after the March 3 performance of “W;t,” Pulitzer prize winning author Margaret Edson commented that she could see the Fayette Players’ hearts were completely given to the play. Edson particularly commended Caroline Carr “for the surge of her humanness and for allowing her whole self to come forth as a gift to the audience.” Edson went on to say that she appreciated the direction of Jeff Allen in the “very adept use of motion on and off stage.”

When asked about the inspiration for the characters in the play, the author replied, “The characters are all a reflection of myself and are not based on anyone in particular.” Previously, Edson worked in a research hospital and gained medical knowledge in that venue. She had never planned to write a book or play and knew nothing of it until the idea struck her one day. Edson was a very relaxed and open speaker, patiently sharing the journey of her work with the audience.

“W;t” continues its run through Sunday. Following each performance, Carla Cook Smith will sell prints of her painting, “Waiting for the Train.” Fifty percent of all proceeds from the sale of the prints will be donated to the Georgian Ovarian Cancer Alliance. “Waiting for the Train” merchandise has raised funds nationally in support of cancer awareness and research.
