A 15-year-old Peachtree City boy has been arrested for using a handgun to threaten his mother just before he ran away from home Friday, police said.
The suspect was found Monday on an unregistered golf cart in the Wynnmeade subdivision that the suspect had stolen from the nearby Camden Apartment complex, police said.
The suspect was charged with being an unruly juvenile, theft of a motor vehicle, underage possession of a firearm and driving with a suspended license, police said. The suspect was taken to the Clayton Youth Detention Center to await a hearing in juvenile court, police said.
Officers were working Tuesday to locate the gun where it had been reportedly ditched in a wooded area, police said.
The suspect’s driver’s permit had been suspended due to lack of school attendance, police said. Before he ran away Friday, he displayed a handgun to his mother, police said.
The golf cart was initially stopped because the driver appeared to be underage. The driver, a female, also 15 years old, was charged with violating golf cart regulations.
