Fayetteville’s 13th annual Christmas Tree Lighting takes place today. The public is invited to gather at Heritage Park, with festivities scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. The traditional lighting of the tree will be followed by complimentary carriage rides with Santa. Heritage Park will be transformed into a Dickens Christmas village complete with characters right from the book. Coffee, hot chocolate and Georgia chestnuts will be available to help warm everyone during the ceremony. The fun will continue even after the tree is lit with Santa providing free carriage rides until 9 p.m. For further information about the Tree Lighting ceremony, please call 770-461-6029. Before the event, everyone is invited across the street to a pre-lighting Victorian Christmas open house at the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House Museum from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Free ornament making demonstrations and goodies for the children will be provided.
