Brown should withdraw, save $20K

Given that Mayor Brown enjoyed just over 20 percent of the votes cast in the general election, wouldn’t it be a magnanimous gesture on his part to concede to Harold Logsdon, thereby avoiding an estimated $20,000 expense for the runoff election?

Brown’s contention that a large field of contenders drowned his message and created a vast pool of voters so befuddled they voted for someone other than Brown is ridiculous. We think voters are smarter than that. We think they thoroughly understood his message and didn’t like it.

Communicating frequently and at great length is not one of Mayor Brown’s shortcomings. Seemingly there are other reasons that nearly 80 percent of the voters considered before casting their votes against the mayor.

It seems unlikely that all these people will change their minds and their votes during the next three weeks. Therefore, back to paragraph one, wouldn’t it be commendable if the mayor were to save us $20,000 of unnecessary expense?
