Following worship, a "Welcome Home" dinner will be served from 1 - 2:30 p.m.

At 3 p.m., the special anniversary worship service begins, featuring as guest pastor the Rev. Mark Thompson of Big Bethel A.M.E. Church in Atlanta.

Flat Rock A.M.E., founded in 1854, was the parent church for six other churches in Fayette County - Holly Grove, Flipper Chapel, Little Vine, Bethlehem Baptist, Edgefield Baptist and Rising Star Baptist.

"We are a small congregation," a spokesperson said, "but Flat Rock has served the Fayette community through the years."

For more information about the homecoming-anniversary event, call Trish Jordan, chairperson, 770-912-7685, or the Rev. Ed Johnson, pastor of Flat Rock, 770-461-0283.
