Charlie and Myra Brock are celebrating their 10th anniversary with an intimate dinner party. Everyone who is anyone is invited to attend. Witness the mayhem as Starr's Mill High School's rendition of "Rumors" by Neil SImon comes to town. This "wickedly funny comedy" is being performed at the Fayette Family YMCA's Chimneys Lodge May 11 through May 14 at 7 p.m.

Directed by David Spearman, the show has been double cast with Cast A performing on Wednesday and Friday nights and Cast B performing on Thursday and Saturday nights.

"We have so many talented seniors. We wanted to give them all a chance to perform." Spearman explained, who went on to describe the lengthy run-throughs due to incessant laughter. "That's the sign of a classic comedy. It's funny every time you read through it."

Soon after the curtain rises the dinner guests discover that there are no servants, the hostess is gone, and the host has shot himself through the earlobe. "Comedy is very difficult to do." Spearman added. "Comic timing is hard. You have to know why something is funny to make others laugh."

The first couple to arrive are the Gormans, Charlie's attorney and his wife. They try to cover up what has happened, but the story switches gears with each ensuing arrival.

The show originally premiered in 1988 at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City garnering such comments as "It's like the Marx Brothers meets Neil Simon. A hiliarous comedy in two acts."

Cast members include Alexandra Benson, Matt Carroll, Katie Culp, Kevin Davis, Mitch Dean, Lora Farmer, Devin Hipp, Katie Houghtaling, Amanda Kulaga, Brittany Mistach, Tyler Molleson, Rachel Nussbaum, Jillian Profeta, Megan Roseen, Stephanie Smartt, Adam Sweat, Jennifer Tripi, and Ryan Turk.

Audiences are cautioned that this is an adult comedy and some language may not be suitable for small children. The show runs May 11 thru 14 with curtain time at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. For more information visit smhsdrama.com or phone 770-486-2710.
