The Starr's Mill High School golf team finished fifth in the state in this week's AAAAA State Golf Finals, played on Jekyll Island's Oleander Course.

"The 5th place finish is the highest state ranking that the Starr's Mill golf program has ever finished," stated Coach Chad Philips. "The boys turned in a lot of solid, low scores over a very long day of golf."

The AAAAA State Finals format is 36 holes of golf for each player, to be played on the same day. Each team uses the four best scores from the six players on the team after each 18 hole round. The Starr's Mill low scores recorded after the morning round of golf were Connor MacBean 74, Mitsuki Shimba 77, Wade Holland 78, and Ben Creighton 78. Scores used from the afternoon round were shot by Mitsuki Shimba 74, Ben Creighton 75, Bo Tiller 78, and Wade Holland 78.
