The principal of the year program recognizes outstanding secondary principals who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership, commitment to students and staff, service to their communities and contributions to the overall profession of educational leadership.
Sweat has served as principal of Starr's Mill since 1999. During his five years at the school, Starr's Mill has been recognized as a State School of Excellence, one of Newsweek Magazine's top high schools in the country for achievement and participation in Advanced Placement (AP) classes and one of the top 42 high schools in the nation in overall quality of educational programs.
