The two top high school teams in the local region, East Coweta and Starr's Mill, squared off in a nine hole match at White Oak Country Club in Newnan this past Tuesday. East Coweta won the first match between these two teams earlier in the season, but this time the team from Starr's Mill prevailed in another close contest, 144 to 151.
Leading the way for Starr's Mill were Connor MacBean (33), Cory Crump (33), Wade Holland (38) and Bo Tiller (40). The low scores for the East Coweta team were Michael Hicks (35), Chance Griffin (37) , Steve Dechert (39) and Nathan Wallace (40).
Both of these teams along with all the other teams in the area met again yesterday at White Oak Country Club for the regional playoffs. The top two teams from Thursday's competition will advance to the State AAAAA playoffs that will be held at the Jekyll Island Golf Course in early May.
