Hollywood screenwriters couldn't have scripted it any better.

This evening the Starr's Mill and McIntosh soccer teams will clash in their only meeting scheduled for this year. Though the boys game will pit two top caliber teams against each other in another installment of a well played and physical rivalry, the girls game is perhaps one notch above. Not only did these two teams meet in the AAAAA state finals last year with the Lady Chiefs winning, but the two teams are now both 5-0 and ranked number one in their classifications. For the uninitiated, McIntosh is now in AAAA while Starr's Mill is in AAAAA. Unless the score is tied after overtime, one of these teams will be handed their first loss of the season while the other will maintain bragging rights for a full year.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs picked up their fifth win of the season by blanking Northgate 12-0 on Tuesday. Jessie Lenze had four goals, Monica Hogan had three, Kellie Myles and Katie Schulz each had two and Caroline Austen added one. Starr's Mill got their fifth win with a 4-1 victory over Woodward Academy. Katie Jacobsen had two goals in the win, while Lucy Martin added a goal and an assist and Emily Stevens scored the other goal. Tannah Castro, Adrienne Phillips and Laura McCalla each had an assist and goalkeeper Katelynn Morgan made seven saves.

The McIntosh boys, ranked number one in AAAA, got a 3-1 region win over Northgate, while Starr's Mill, ranked eighth in AAAAA, lost to Woodward Academy 3-0. Nader Jarun scored twice for the Chiefs, who were down 1-0 at the half, and Michael Mateos scored the third and final goal.

In other games played on Tuesday, Whitewater's boys and girls hammered Creekside. The boys won 14-1 while the girls won 15-0.
