The memories were recorded, and along with interview forms filled out by the students, sent to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., where they are archived by historians.
The Dixie Wing assisted in rounding up the vets and providing a facility at Falcon Field Airport in Peachtree City where the interviews could take place.
The importance of the assignment wasn't lost on Sandy Creek AFJROTC Cadet Matthew Dix.
"This interview gave me an opportunity to meet veterans who served their country with dignity and honor, and I believe it was one of the greatest things I have done," Dix said.
