Pastor Edward Brown to be honored
Members of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fayetteville will honor Pastor Edward Brown on his retirement Friday, Dec. 3, during a celebration of "The Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow," at The Banquet Hall in Jonesboro (behind Sonics Restaurant).
Tickets for limited seating are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 18.
Brown has been pastor at Mt. Olive for 33 years and started the Sunday school program, the Usher board, and founded the E. Brown Gospel Choir.
"During his many years of service, each deacon was taken under Rev. Brown's wing and ordained before venturing out of the doors of Mt. Olive to spread the good news," a church spokesperson said. "Rev. Brown was a dynamic contributor in the construction of our current house of worship, as well as our facility in progress."
The spokesperson added that many ministers respect and honor Brown and are blessed to call him "Daddy Brown" and the "Dean of Fayetteville."
"We hope you will join with us in honoring this saved, sanctified and Holy Ghost-filled man on his day of retirement, where he transitions from renowned pastor to renowned pastor emeritus," the spokesperson said.
