The protective order was filed after an incident between the couple was
reported Feb. 7, 2003 in which Teague struck his wife in the face with a
large coffee can, "causing substantial blackening of both eyes, substantial
swelling and cuts to the bridge of her nose," according to the arrest
warrant filed by the sheriff's office.
The charges stemming from the February incident have not been prosecuted
because the Teagues agreed to enter the pre-trial intervention program, according
to court documents. State Court Judge Fletcher Sams ordered Mr. Teague to
complete a 24-week course about preventing family violence and Mrs. Teague
was ordered to attend classes twice a month at the Fayette County Council
on Domestic Violence, now known as Promise Place.
If the Teagues prove they completed the requirements, the case would be
dropped by prosecutors, according to court files.
