The Clayton State Women's Forum is rapidly becoming a popular venue for
exceptional women and speakers. Last year, the Forum featured such notable
personalities as Jovita Moore, weekend news anchor for Channel 2 Action News;
Valencia Seay, Georgia State House representative; Evelyn Gibson Lowery,
wife of civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph E. Lowery; and Harriet Hessam,
chief executive officer of the Girl Scout Council of Northwest Georgia.
Among other noteworthy events, the Women's Forum sponsors an annual Silent
Auction, scheduled this year for Oct. 19 in Clayton State's new University
Center commons area. The Women's Forum uses a portion of the proceeds from
this fundraising event each year to help build the Women's Forum Scholarship
Fund, which awards scholarships yearly to qualified students and staff members.
Clayton State Women's Forum goal is to promote the educational, career and
scholarship development activities of women through programming, mentoring,
and advocacy. Forum membership is open to all employees at Clayton State
including male colleagues and student assistants.
