Just behind these perfect scorers are 12 schools that had 99% scoring at

or above grade level in reading. Forty-four of Fulton's elementary schools

had at least 95% of students at or above grade level.

The 2003-2004 school year was the first time that Georgia required third

graders to meet or exceed reading performance levels in order to be promoted

to fourth grade. Those who did not earn high enough scores on the spring

CRCT were given the opportunity to attend summer school and retake the test. Ninety-three

percent of students met required scores during the spring testing. Following

the retest in July, 97% of all Fulton third graders showed reading proficiency.
