There really isn't anyone else quite like them. Tim Hauser,

Janis Siegel, Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyne have been harmonizing

for over 30 years, updating the jazz vocal genre with wit and

style. Manhattan Transfer continue to explore the possibilities

of popular music with each release. Their sizable catalog has

hit on everything from Louie Armstrong classics to Brazilian

music to Doo Wop. Along the way they have earned their share

of Grammy awards. Their critically acclaimed 1985 album, "Vocalese" received

12 nominations, making it the most nominated record in Grammy

history, next to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

As part of The Frederick Brown, Jr's Amphitheater's

series of Jazz performances in Peachtree City, the boys and girls

from New York City will jump and jive at "The Fred" Saturday

night at 8 p.m. With plenty of music to choose from including

their 2003 release, "Couldn't Be Hotter", the

fantastic four of the jazz vocal world are sure to thrill their

audience.

"Birdland", "Boy From New York City", "Until

I Met You (Corner Pocket)", "Twilight Zone/Twilight

Tone", and "Route 66" are some of their best known

numbers, nearly all of which have won Grammys. A Christmas album

in 1992 and a children's album in 1994 prove that their

sound can be reshaped to fit young ears and holiday celebrations.

On their 1995 album "Tonin'" they were joined

Midler, Frankie Valli, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan, B. B. King,

and James Taylor. "Swing" released in 1997 revels in

1930's era swing music, some of which, "Java Jive" and "A-Tisket,

A-Tasket" were recorded with Asleep At The Wheel.

Two remaining evenings of Jazz artistry await in the months

to follow. On September 4, Georgia native Lizz Wright will perform

the second concert of the Jazz Series. Steve Tyrell closes out

the series October 2.

The 2004 Summer Jazz Concerts is presented by the law firm of

Webb, Lindsey and Wade. Jazz Series tickets are $80 for all three

concerts. Individual tickets are $35. Tickets may be purchased

in person at the Amphitheater's box office located at 201

McIntosh Trail or by telephone at 770-631-0630 or fax at 770-631-0430.

There is a $3 handling fee per order. Picnic tables, Gold tables,

and Group rates are also available.
