Since March 2003, FCAS has been managed by Southern H.O.P.E. (Humane Options
to Prevent Euthanasia), a non-profit animal advocacy organization. As a result,
the pet euthanasia rate in Fulton County decreased from 80 percent to 52
percent, and the number of pets adopted or transferred to licensed animal
rescue groups grew 550 percent (nearly 90 percent of animals in FCAS custody
are strays).
More programs are being designed to decrease the number of homeless animals
countywide.
