Get embroiled this month in the comical antics of Jon (Corey

Hendricks) and Leslie (Stan Gentry), two out-of-work musicians

in New York City as they try to pull a fast one on everybody,

including the government, in "Love, Sex and The IRS." The

Newnan Theatre Company is currently presenting this comedy of

tax errors written by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore at the

intimate Black Box Theatre located at 24 First Avenue in Newnan.

A small discrepancy in Jon's joint return becomes the subject

of much more deceit than originally planned when Floyd Spinner

(Charlie GiIlespie) of the Internal Revenue Service shows up

and spoils everybody's fun except the audiences. Jon's

girlfriend, Kate Dennis (Dr. Jenny Price) tries to help the guys

conceal their transgression, but things really go awry when Jon's

mother, Vivian (Susan Gillespie) arrives.

The three act play, directed by Dave Dorrell and Jeff Allen,

runs Friday & Saturday, July 9 and 10, 16 and 17, 23 and

24 at 8 p.m.

Dorrell first encountered this modern farce written in the early

80s when he played the role of Leslie in a production mounted

in Michigan. The show's director bargained to get the play

produced and proved he knew a good comedy when he saw it as the

show played to packed houses every night. This play is part of

the Artist's Series and intended for mature audiences.

Seating is limited to 60 per show,. Reserve seats at visit www.newnantheatre.com

or phone 770-683-6282. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students

and senior citizens. Groups of 10 or more get a $2 discount per

ticket if paid in advance.
