The CRS Classification system
consists of 10 classes and there is a 5 percent premium discount for every
lower class. Class 10 receives no discount, Class 9 receives a five percent
discount, and this continues down the line to a Class 1, which receives
a 45 percent discount. A county's or city's classification is
based on how well their flood plain management program is structured and
administered. In Georgia, only one city has a class rating of 6, two cities
have a class rating of 7, and only one other county has a class rating
of 7. No county in the Atlanta Metro area has a class rating as low as
Fayette County.
