The Fayetteville

City Council has approved several changes to the city's zoning ordinance,

some of which address rather unique businesses that could possibly locate

here in the future.

A vehicles

for hire business such as a taxi or limousine service will now be allowed

areas. That means the City Council must sign off on the project before

it can be developed.

The new changes

also allow an indoor firing range to be located in the M-1 industrial

zoning district, also by special exception only.

City officials

are developing restrictions for indoor firing ranges which would use safety

guidelines developed by the National Rifle Association.

Although the

city originally had an inquiry recently from someone considering the development

of a firing range here, that person has said the project will be moved

into the unincorporated county, said Mayor Ken Steele.

Another change

would allow hotels to be developed only by special exception.
