I have had to express our sadness

to several mothers who lost their young children to the ravages of cancer

and other diseases. I have watched mothers in painful agony as their teenagers

are sentenced in our courts, knowing that each mother would give up years

of her life to see her children avoid getting into trouble.

It is always exciting to watch

our grandmothers playing with their grandchildren on our local tot lots.

Grandmothers have what seems to be infinite patience and they continually

appear very interested in the rocks, sticks and bugs that little boys

pull out of their pockets. Our grandmothers always have an easy time finding

the virtuous and pleasant qualities of children.

All my love and respect goes

out to our extraordinary mothers and grandmothers in our community. Your

loving actions are often overlooked, but please know that you are the

most beautiful women on this earth and that we can not carry on without

you.
