Faith Lutheran
breaks ground for new facility
Calling it
a blend of the old with the new the celebration of Palm Sunday and the
groundbreaking for a new church members of Faith Lutheran Church in Coweta
County broke ground for their new church building last month.
"There
were palm branches in the air, a cross inscribed in the earth, spades
breaking the ground it was the blend of old and new that made the event
so striking for the crowd gathered in the open field," said one church
member who witnessed the event.
About 100 people
gathered to mark the special day in the life of the young congregation
founded in 2001.
The building
project will include the sanctuary, education rooms and administrative
offices. The facility will be built on the congregation's new property
just north of Ga. Hwy. 34 on Dr. Fisher Road, located on the outskirts
of Peachtree City.
Faith Lutheran
is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The WELS,
characterized as theologically conservative, is the third largest Lutheran
church body in America. With national offices today in Milwaukee, Wis.,
WELS began in 1850 when three pastors met in Milwaukee. Today, it has
grown to 1,241 congregations in North America, with missions in 26 countries
on 5 continents.
