The East Coweta

Lady Indians and the Landmark Christian School Lady War Eagles are still

alive in the state basketball tournament. Both teams play this evening

at colleges on opposite sides of the state.

East Coweta

defeated Camden County in the opening round of the AAAAA state basketball

tournament last week 43-39. Camden County won the Region 3-AAAAA title

the week before. The Lady Indians, the fourth seed from Region 4-AAAAA,

got 10 points a piece from Alexis Malone and Ashley Godfrey but was led

in scoring by Megan Darrah with 17 points.

Darrah recently

rejoined the team after sitting out for several weeks due to injury.

The Lady Indians

will take on Houston County tonight at 7 p.m. If they win they will meet

the winner of Riverdale and Valdosta tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Both games

will take place at Savannah State College.

Landmark's

Lady War Eagles got a huge win last weekend by defeating Towns County

70-41. The Lady War Eagles had a 30-3 run in the third quarter that sealed

the win. Ashley Key scored 39 points for Landmark, may of the points coming

in the second half. Merritt Tidwell contributed nine points during the

30 point run.

Landmark will

face Bremen this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Floyd College in Rome. A win would

pit them against the Social Circle/Trion winner on Saturday at 7 p.m.
